Hi Dominique!
Now it is clear to me that it was yourself who was waiting down stairs for
this mornings MIST gathering, to hear all about the rolling out of the
LUAS Services across the greater Dublin area.
On arrival at the hotel reception, I was also informed that there was no
record of the get-together but being a doubting Thomas (too long in the
tooth) I didn't accept the receptionist lack of knowledge and proceeded up
stairs just to check it out for myself. (The same room that NCBI also use
for meetings)
I was greeted warmly at the entrance to the room and introduced to Neill,
the chap from LUAS. Once the tea and coffee was served, Neill took to the
stage and gave a very comprehensive review of the complete LUAS service and
he answered everyone's questions. I personally picked up lots of valuable
information which I hope to benefit from as the LUAS continues to expand.
Dominique! Its a shame that you lost out on this information sharing morning
but I would not hold the MIST folk responsible for the lack of information
at the front desk. As far as I know, MIST have been meeting at the Wynn's
Hotel for many years and on the last Wednesday of the month, to the best of
my knowledge. I am not a MIST member but I could observe that the ladies
who were organising the event certainly had the interests of blind people
uppermost in their minds.
However, at the end of the presentation, I over-heard a man telling them
about a young lady with a Guide Dog down in the lounge area before the
meeting and as I say, I now know who the Lady is. The MIST folk plan to
have similar information sharing events over the next few months and their
next meeting is on February 28th...the last Wednesday in the month.
I'm sure that if you contact the principal organiser, you will hear of their
disappointment in people not being directed to the meeting room so give them
the benefit of the doubt on this occasion.
In the meantime, take care and I look forward to meeting you at some future
event as speaking for myself Dominique, I appreciate all the effort that you
go to in providing all of us on the Lists with valuable information.
