Dear friends,
Cancer creates a bigger burden than people first imagine. We often consider
the physical burden of the disease, but it's economic impact can be just as
devastating for families. Imagine having to choose between feeding your
family, or paying to park your car while attending treatments? Families and
individuals throughout Ireland are facing these heartbreaking decisions.
But that's not all - 7,600 people signed a petition asking one the of
largest hospital groups in the country to consider full parking fee waivers
for cancer patients. Then the hospital management refused to listen to the
concerns of patients and their families, and also turned the petition
delivery group away at the doors with a security team.
That's why we need to build the petition up to 10,000 signatures. With that
much support, we can turn this into a political issue throughout the country
and force hospital management to do the right thing and lessen the burden on
some of our most vulnerable patients and their families.
If more than ten thousand of us get behind these families, it will be enough
to not only win this issue, but also enough to start a serious movement
toward even bigger health care reform.
