...and know that Zoë's participation in Thursday's student walk-out, especially
her courageously SPEAKING in front of everyone-had a huge impact! It
jump-started an enthusiastic, collaborative effort that gains momentum daily.

I agree with Jess!

If you can come to the board meeting on Tue, I think you will hear some
clarifying info that could help. I understand, though, too, that sometimes too
much info just is overwhelming and upsetting and not helpful to some of us
parents and to some of our children. I'd say decide based on what works best to
keep your household calm but know that parents, teachers and board members are
working hard to work out a prompt result over the next few days.

Hang in there and hug your kids!

Kat (et al),
I think we will have a better sense of things in the next couple days.

The Board has a meeting tonight, as well as tomorrow. The teachers have been
very clear that they want to stay, but unless or until the Board intervenes to
address teacher concerns, my understanding is that they can't commit to stay.

Fingers crossed & not giving up, Jess

I'm trying very hard to follow everything that is happening through all the
emails. I am also scrambling to figure out options for Zoë next year, and to
make a plan.

Can someone please clarify to me if the teachers are planning on staying? If
the board is leaning toward firing Tony? I'm terribly confused right now and
this has huge impacts on my kiddo (other kiddos as well, and due to my kids set
of needs , we need to be able to create a stable plan for her).

I just got off the phone with Sarah. One of my first things I said was that I
feel certain that if Toni stays on as Executive Director that the teachers will
leave. She said that the email that Brynne sent out today seemed to say the
contrary and that it seems like the teachers want to work for a solution. I
said that is true if the solution doesn't include Toni as the Executive
Director. Several other things she mentioned are below but I ended the
conversation stating very firmly that from what I have learned, I truly believe
with every fiber of my being that if Toni remains the Executive Director that
the teachers will leave.

Other items:
Sarah wants to be accountable to the community but she also wants to uphold the
integrity of the closed meeting.
She has received no council on what she can or can't say.

She mentioned that she received emails from teachers and I've asked her if that
has caused her to change her mind. She gave me a diluted answer stating that
she is listening to everyone's opinions and she wants everyone to come together
for a solution.

She will be at the meetings tomorrow and Tuesday.

Sorry this is a bit late . . (been working most of the weekend) Thanks to
Johnny and Jessica for input and suggestions.

Our goal is to work with current board members to resolve issues and keep the
school moving forward. You can preface conversation by stating that parents
and teachers have not been able to share information face to face with the
board which has made this process hard. The board has been stuck with a
difficult decision and a very trying time for governance but it is their job to
hear all that has brought us to this point and in the end support the parents,
students, school, teachers and the process that has made southside so very
successful.

To that end please be respectul and use these points to guide your
conversation. Thanks and good luck! Please reply to me how your talks went.
Thanks ! Brian

Be respectful! may be obvious but i really do feel current board members are
feeling defensive and we need to be dignified when doing our outreachRecognize
and appreciate their service during this very difficult and challenging time
(mooooch!)

Emphasize that we need their help! A vote was taken earlier this week where all
viewpoints were not presented and there appeared to be no transparency (no
teacher perspective was offered)
Encourage them to attend on tuesday (some members may be fearful to show due
to backlash or perception that they will be verbally attacked) and come with an
OPEN mind to hear the teacher's perspective and other relevant info about our
authorizer

Teachers want the school to be sustainable and compliant. They are invested in
the school and many have children and grandchildren as current and future
studentsToni (ED) has presented this as a compliance issue and painted the
picture that the current teachers are resistant to being compliant - emphasize
that is is a labor/personnel (workplace) issue that has not been fully
investigated and again feel free to emphasize that the teachers want to
maintain and uphold compliance issues

VOA (our authorizer) was present to talk with parents on Friday - VOA wants to
maintain their relationship with SFCS. They will continue to be our authorizer
if the current director leaves. This contradicts what Toni has stated parents
and board members and it is important to point out this contraction

Encourage action to save our school! advocate for a new vote on the current ED
with the info they will receive on Tuesday
