Hi Sven,
We’ve just finished our new greenhouse (we actually received a 2007 greenhouse
as a gift, took it apart piece by piece and built it up again- bit of a job,
but fun. And foremost: a great and cheap greenhouse)
We have not yet installed the final heating system but the heat exchangers will
be mounted on the ceiling and blow down the hot air on a path below (not
directly on the plants) and then be directed sideways. As such, there is a
convection, and the hot air doesn’t stay up, where it is rather useless. See
https://www.wolf.eu/en-de/professional/heating-products/ventilation-systems/air-heater-lhd
, not quite sure it is exactly the model, but it gives an idea.
More importantly, we’ve installed a horizontal thermal net that also acts as
shading in the summer months, actioned by electric motors. In the winter this
saves up to 40% heating costs, and in the summer, the shading is perfect.
If you wish, I could send you a few pictures.
Best wishes,
Caspar

Betreff: [ezg] [EXT]: Tropical Glasshouse Heating
Hi all,
We plan to reinstate heating to a 55sqm glasshouse at London Zoo to provide a
suitable environment for growing tropical stock (16-28°C).
The glasshouse does have a gas supply.
What are your experiences with heating solutions? Would you recommend any
particular set-up?
All the best,
Sven
