RE: what is the use of command line email

There are 2 uses for command line SMTP communications: 

1) Testing
2) Program usage.

Do you know that SMTP communications basically take place like a command
line? Just much much much faster.

If the from address is local and the to address is local, it should accept.
If the from address is remote and the to address is local, it should accept
If the from address is local and the to address is remote, it should reject
unless authenticated.
If the from address is remote and the to address is remote, it should
reject.

That is how e-mail servers should be configured. Of course there are other
configurations such as wide open or locked down, but generally that is the
configuration.
