After changing in the recipient policy, did you do an "Apply this policy now" ? I am not sure if "case changes" will be considered as a policy change in this case and re applied to all objects. The other way to change the case is to use VB script and modify all user objects email addresses to change the upper case to lower case. Another "dirty" way of doing this would be to change the recipient policy to something other than @ABCD.COM, such as xyz.com, apply the policy, wait for an hour or so, and again change the policy to abcd.com, and apply the policy again. Remember this method will throw your user objects off swing for at least an hour. They wont be able to receive any incoming emails, and should not be sending any emails until your revert back to abcd.com. Do this only if it is tolerable in your environment. I would recommend the VBscript method.
