You might try spell check on your email. It makes it easier to read. The upgrade procedure will check to make sure you have the proper upgrades to Active Directory and if not, it will do it for you. It really was pretty painless. You need to read up on it (sounds like you have), have a plan on what to do if it does not work, and then do it.
