smtp rset

I keep getting an smtp rset command in my smtp logs whenever exchange
connects to one specific server(this is my journal server).
Both the local and remote(journal) servers are running exchange 2000.
does this mean the remote server is recieveing too many emails?
I'm journaling about 100,000 emails a day to it.
what could be the cause of the rset?
what is the default max connections incoming an exchange 2k server can
handle?
