I think I figured out what I missed in the conversation. If I guessed this correctly, Jared you originally entered the SMTP address on for the user through ADU&C. What may work better for you is to use the Exchange Task wizard to set the properties. To do this, you'll want to first clear the mail attributes (again, use the Exchange Task wizard). Note, you should write down the destination address prior to this step! Once that has occurred, re-run the task wizard and specify it's a mail enabled user. Wait for RUS to stamp the address (you should be prompted to enter the remote destination address during the wizard). Once this completes, add a secondary SMTP address of your organizations SMTP domain. Wait for replication. Test. Did that same thing here when I had a spare moment and it works like a champ. In ADUC, open the mail-enabled users properties, go to the Email Addresses tab, Add another address. I am using this method for some external users that receive automated notifications from our mainframe based underwriting system. The mainframe sends the message to an email address that is generated based on the userid, it is sent to that address on our Exchange system, and the Exchange system sends it on to the 'primary' smtp address in that user's profile. Works like a charm. They are completely different in AD Exchange 2000. I need to be able to forward a "mail-enabled" only users's smtp email to another smtp email. Apparently, this is not possible. Thank you for taking your time to help figure it out.
