Well, you dont need to have an smtp address, especially if you use
Outlook client to send messages to this DL.

Using Outlook client, you open a new message, look for the DL in the GAL
select it and send the message, you dont need to have an e-mail address
because Outlook client uses mapi to send the message.

If you send a message to this DL using a program like outlook
express (smtp client), I agrre with you, you will have to have an e-mail
address.

Once more, I am talking about Exchange 5.5 only, I dont know about
E2K.

If I remove the email address, then I no one will be able to send to it. You
need to have an smtp for internal email. I still want to use the group
internally, I just don't want internet email coming to this group.

All you have to do is delete the e-mail address from it. DLs doesnt need to
have an e-mail address, it works fine without it, at least in MS Exchange
5.5

Subject: [exchangelist] group distribution lists

http://www.MSExchange.org/ Over the weekend we received some junk emails to
our distribution
lists. For example, salesgroup@xxxxxxxxxx
order=down&sort=date&pos=0> . There are X amount of users in
this group and they all received junk mail. I have filtered this address
out, however to prevent this in the future is there any way to stop
this group from receiving email from outside?
