Raj,

Deniz is correct. Remove the E-mail address for the Distribution list and
internal users will still be able to send to the Distribution list. This
will prevent outside users from sending to the DL and Spamming everyone.
Your users will just have to type in the name of the DL (available in the
GAL - Address Book) and send the message.

I have done this in our organization (over 1500 DL's) and it has worked
great. It even took a large load off of our Exchange infrastructure simply
because the amount of e-mail coming in has reduced tremendously.

Or you could restrict who can send to the DL, but this would still put a
load on the server.......

All you have to do is delete the e-mail address from it. DLs doesnt need to
have an e-mail address, it works fine without it, at least in MS Exchange
5.5

http://www.MSExchange.org/ Over the weekend we received some junk emails to
our distribution
lists. For example, salesgroup@xxxxxxxxxx

order=down&sort=date&pos=0> . There are X amount of users in
this group and they all received junk mail. I have filtered this address
out, however to prevent this in the future is there any way to stop
this group from receiving email from outside?
