Well,
What Mike wanted is, the recipient has a local address in the Exchange
organization, then the incoming mail gets forwarded to the aol.com
account. Like, the mail comes to user@xxxxxxxxxxxx and gets auto
forwarded to user@xxxxxxxxxxx

How do you do that just by using contacts, where in contacts do you set
forwarding to an alternate address???

Regards
Raj

Create the contact as normal. Then give it the local address you want it
to respond to.

I don't think you can this with contacts. Contacts are user objects that
have an email address outside your organization, so that users in your
organization can look up these Contacts from the GAL. If you want to
have all users an email address in your organization such as
user@xxxxxxxxxxxx, and you want some of these users to automatically
forward all incoming messages to an aol.com account, I don't think you
can do that using simple mail enabled contacts. You need mailbox enabled
user objects.

Raj

Well, I'm not sure I agree with your interpretation of the licensing,
but that aside, you can do that with mail enabled contacts.

Hi all,

I have a client who has about 20 real mailboxes, and then they have
about 80 users who won't have email boxes, just forwards to an external
email like their personal AOL or a hotmail accounts. This is for a
church.

The only method I can see in Exchange requires me to install "real mail
enabled accounts" for each one and then set each one to forward, but
from a CAL (licensing) point of view, these 80 users would still have to
pay for a CAL license even thought they are not really using Exchange
other than as a forwarding engine.

Any ideas on how I can accomplish this without making having to set up
real mail enabled accounts in Exchange?

best regards
Mike
