forward local mail

I am currently migrating to exchange 2000.  I have the server installed
and configured.  Only the IT team is using the exchange server and the
existing smtp server.  Everything is working fine except for internal
mail.  Is there a way to send an internal mail which would be forwarded to
the other smtp server?
