e-mail encryption

Is there anyway to setup some type of encryption so our employees can
send information to customers over the internet in a secure manner. What
would be the best way to achieve this?
 
Should each of our employees setup encryption and send the key to the
people they need to, or is there a more global means of doing the same
thing?
