Hey Doug, This seems to be a persistent transient failure....could be due to routing loops. You may go through RFC1893 for Enhanced Mail System Status Codes. I would check the headers on the errors to see whats happening. My most likely guess is that SMTP servers are accepting particular messages, exchange is rejecting message back to sender, but the SMTP is forwarding message back to exchange according to the reply-to rather than return-path - message bounce! see http://www.rfc.net/rfc2822.html for info on SMTP header fields. But here's an example of when it doesn't. I'm on this list serv, and if 25 [ExchangeList] mails are received 2 or 3 of them will not get through and the postmaster(me) will get this error. (A configuration error in the e-mail system caused the message to bounce between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients. Contact your administrator.) <mail.ogh.org #4.4.6> Any ideas on what I might look for? It only seems to appear on list serv type messages. - Doug ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSExchange.org Discussion List as: jabyrnes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') _______________________ Confidentiality Notice: The information contained in this message may be legally privileged and confidential information intended only for the use of the individual or entity named above.
