What in fact you are doing with the login is just using a cache profile
when logging into the machine and re-inserting the cable for network
1.      My first suggestion should be tried.  Remove the firewall block
on the Lan connection (XP default firewall)
2.      Check your DNS and gateway settings by using the IPCONFIG /ALL
in command prompt for verification
3.      Check your main server to ensure that DHCP is pushing correct
settings down to your clients.
4.      If you have use a static IP on the machine verify it isn?t
conflicting with any other IPs.
5.      If all has been found correct?.remove user from domain add to a
workgroup, restart computer and re-add to domain.
This should fix your problem.
