Well what you would do is use the recovery storage group to restore the
database from 3 weeks past for example and exmerge the content out, or
have the user tell you what the message was and you can just open the
mailbox, locate the message and forward it to him.

Sorry for jumping in,

Damn this is much more work to do. What about if a user comes in 3 weeks
asking for mail he has shift+delete by mistake. Can we do single email
recovery in this method?

This is an easy one.
Stop backing up mailboxes. You just need to backup the mailbox stores
(public and private).

Then read up on Recovery Storage Groups.

Hi All

I have inherited a SBS 2003 server running veritas Backup Exec 9.1

The veritas software backs up some but not all of the contents of the
users mail boxes.

Access is denied to calendar items and also random messages in the In
Box and Sent Items.

Veritas is running with the correct admin rights and can access the mail
boxes and back up most but not all items.

Any thoughts appreciated.
