The time ESEUTIL takes to run an offline defrag depends on the hardware that your running, in my experience its normally 4 - 8gb per hour, so I would recommend you just let it run its course. Just so you know, if this happens again there is a one-time patch that you can apply that will increase the limit to 17Gb, so you can mount the store and get the users to clean up their mailboxes some more before you do the offline defrag, you can find more info here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;828070&Product=exch2 k Mark Fugatt MCT, MCSE, Microsoft Exchange MVP Pentech Office Solutions Inc Tel: 585 586 3890 Cell: 585 576 4750 Fax: 585 249 0316 MSN IM: mark@xxxxxxxxx www.4mcts.com www.exchangetrainer.com -----Original Message----- From: ikm7176 [mailto:ikm7176@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Saturday, December 13, 2003 12:58 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] Urgent!! exchange 2000 standard exceeded 16 GB limit http://www.MSExchange.org/ hi, We are running exchange 2000 standard version with all sp3 and post sp3 patch, this morning it reached the 16 GB limit. since then we are unable to mount the database. searched the KB articles. Finally we decided to run the eseutil utility for offline defragmentation and then move some mailboxes to another server. i am curious to know, how much time it will take for offline defragmentation. its almost 5 hrs for me and its only 60% completed. i am worried if this works ? All the log files and .edb files are untouched. Any other solutions ? Any help would be highly appreciated. thanks !! ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------
