Hello John...I just found this message on the MSEXCHANGE.ORG forums. This
seems to contradict your statement:

"Here is a stab in the dark: Do you have at least one Windows Server 2003
as a DC? Hope so, as that is a requirement for Exchange 2003."

Can you please explain? Maybe now you'll get an idea of how one can get

Hi everyone,
I currently have an exchange 2003 box running, that I need to move onto a
new piece of hardware.

My current hardware is a dual PII 400 HP netserver running windows 2000
with 1500 MB RAM. The OS is windows 2000 SP4. The Exchange version is
2003 v 6.5 build 7226.6 sp1.

My domain is running on Active directory on windows 2000 server.

I want to move it to a new piece of hardware that will be running on the
same domain. I would like to install the new server with windows 2003
right off the bat, but I'm not sure if this is possible. I could try
updating the current exchange server 2003 server to windows 2003 first,
but that scares me, and at best would probably take a very long time.

Could someone point me in the right direction as to what my best option(s)

I have a couple of recipient policies, and various other settings so I
need to be sure and bring over everything the first time through. Are
there any settings that will need to be recreated after the move, or will
they all come over when the exchange databases are restored?
