I was wondering if anyone could ask a question on Postini, or
MessageLabs. I've been previously informed that you have to license
"all or none". Meaning, if I have 1300 users, they get payment for 1300
seats. You can't selectively choose what users run through the service.
This is correct?

I have to agree with Doug, Postini works great and is more cost
effective in a small to midsize environment.

I think I should add a qualifier to my earlier statement. If you don't
have many users then something like postini maybe the way to go (we
actually use it where I work now...about 100 users), but at my previous
position it made much more sense to buy a $3000 barracuda for 6000 users
than $4 x 12months x 6000 users.

The $3000 model that we had processes between 90,000 and 120,000
messages a day with no problems. Even the threshold set to the default
of 3 out of 10, and Bayesian filtering not even used, 78% of our
messages dropped before hitting the exchange server. Talk about a cheap
way to cut load and increase life on a mail server.

But again, that would have been a little expensive for 100 users

I would almost bet the barracuda will cost you less in time AND labor
than others. And it works great!!! Check it out.
