Subject: [exchangelist] Smart Hosts

http://www.MSExchange.org/

Hello, I am new to this list. (Long time participant on the ISA list.)

I have Exchange configured to send all outgoing e-mail to a smart host.
Fine.

Last week, the ISP decided to change hardware in their office, and in doing
so, loaded a default set of rules in their routers. (Read, home user.)
Therefore, all outgoing e-mail from the Exchange server to the smart host
was blocked. That has been fixed. (After yelling at the ISP for a while.)

The problem is what happened to the outgoing e-mails during that time? There
were no bounces, no NDR, nothing in the queue or bad mail directories.

The only indication on the server that something was amiss were hourly
application log warnings about not being able to connect to the smart host.

Any one have an idea of what happened to the e-mails or why more events were
not logged?
