MessageDid you run the Eseutil utility? If not, you need to. That will give
you your space back, assuming you don't have deleted items retension
enabled.

Subject: [exchangelist] Sent and Deleted Items Folders

  http://www.MSExchange.org/

  I am running Exchange 5.5, SP4 on WIN2kserver SP2.

My database has almost double in the last year from 24G to 40G this year.
Even with less employees this year. I couple of weeks ago I deleted about
20G worth of email from users that were hidden. I then ran an offline
defrag hoping to get that space back and to my surprise I only got about 20%
back.

  Any Ideas why?

Also, I have been trying to get my users to empty their deleted and sent
items folders to no avail. What can I do or use to do it myself from the
exchange server as a company wide solution.

  Best regards,
  Juan
