Sending attachment to all users

Does anyone out there know, if someone sends an attachment, say a 1MB pdf file
to all users
on the Exchange 2000 server, does the server store the attachment 'once' and
put 'logical pointers'
in all users mailboxes to the physical file location, or does it store the
file physically in every users'
mailbox?
