The requirement of the FE server is to be able to talk back to the BE server via TCP 80. It additionally needs to be able to talk to the rest of the Active Directory via normal active directory ports (TCP/UDP 88, TCP/UDP 53, etc). Is this possible in this setup? Can the FE server talk to all of the Active Directory servers freely? If you cannot talk to the BE server via TCP 80 (your web browser) then you have a communications failure either with something blocking it or with name resolution. I'd say it's likely the latter based on the error returned, but could be either. This was working and now is not. The front end server is lets say \\server1 and the back end is say \\server2. I am able to type in the browser \\server2\exchagne and of course my email comes up. Typing \\server1\exchange gives me a Cannot find server or DNS Error Internet Explorer error. When I first sent this email, I was at least getting a login screen but now I am not. I changed authentication by removing Integrated Windows authentication off of the front end server. The front end server is just using basic. does this help? -----Original Message----- From: Danny [mailto:nocmonkey@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, October 13, 2004 1:57 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [SPAM: Type H] - [exchangelist] RE: [SPAM: Type H] - RE: Online Defrag - Email found in subject - Email found in subject http://www.MSExchange.org/ On Wed, 13 Oct 2004 14:16:10 -0400, Amy Kohler <akohler@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Hello all, > I'm desperate! You had it setup to authenticate internally... as in, you have it to authenticate to another server outside of the DMZ within your LAN? If so, *from* this new frontend server, are you able to communicate with the server it is suppose to authenticate to? Have you adjusted your firewall rules appropriately? What type of traffic can you get through to the authenticating server? ...D ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSEXchange.org Discussion List as: akohler@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSEXchange.org Discussion List as: al.mulnick@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
