How many users do you have that you need to do spam control on? If someone
needs to do spam control on 500 users, even at 3.50/user (sounds cheap, right?)
that's $1750 PER month. That can buy you a lot of bandwidth, and the combined
savings over one year could buy you an entire Exchange server replica,
depending on how much redundancy you want.
So, as you say, it's relative.. Relative mostly to the number of users you need
to put spam control on. Because then it becomes a numbers game, and those $$'s
add up quick with bigger user counts.

It's relative, really. For example, Postini sent me a warning notice
last evening that my mail server was off-line (as far as it could tell; in fact
the T-1 had blipped.) But, the message told me it would begin automatically
spooling messages for me in 15 minutes. It will spool up to a certain limit (or
until I get back online and turn off spooling.) Redundancy is worth its weight
in gold. (The T-1 healed itself very quickly and the auto-spooling never
occurred so I didn't have to think about it. I like that.)
And, not only does it kill SPAM wonderfully but it also kills viruses
via McAfee's library. It runs us about 3.50/user per month. Worth every penny...

and the affectiveness of GFI, it's well worth it and will save big $$$ to the
company so employees don't have to waste their time going through the email to

Hi list!
I think this is only the second time I have posted in the 2 years I have been
on the list.
I submitted a request last year for GFI Mail Essentials for 2006. Yesterday I
get the ok to order and OMG the price has doubled. Which means I have to find
an alternative. I am looking for software to run on the Exchange server
(limited budget, small shop, tons of spam). Does anyone have a recommendation
for something comparable to GFI Mail Essentials?
