Yes. Since you're running Exch. 5.5 on NT 4.o then you will have to install
a win2k box with IIS on it in the DMZ. You would then configure Virtual
SMTP domains and then install GFI on this server. It can be a low end
server or a higher end pc. We run an NT4 domain with Exch 5.5 on a Win2k
server inside our network with a dedicated win2k server hosting the Spam
software in our DMZ.

Thanks for the suggestions, sounds like a plan!!!

Although, let me understand this correctly:

I have to install it on a separate box (SMTP server) other than my Exchange
server?

Thanks for your time.

GFI Mail Essentials... inexpensive but good.

Download the trial and you can test it (full version) for 30 days or so...
I promise you will not find a better solution for the money. I currently
use it for my Exchange 5.5 environment with over 1500 mailboxes... it is
VERY strict out of the box, so you will want to edit the filters to meet
your company's needs before implementing. But that only took me 2 days
total...

Regards,
Chris

Hello everyone,

I'm at my wits end trying to fight SPAM at the client level. Does anyone
have any good recommendations for SPAM blockers at the server level? We are
receiving 150-200 SPAM messages per mailbox per day!!! I am running an NT
4.0 Server running Exchange Server 5.5. Our network is very small - 30
Exchange mailboxes.

Keep in mind cost, ease of use setting up, configuring, maintaining, etc.

Thanks for any recommendations!
