http://www.msexchange.org ------------------------------------------------------->A rDNS is certainly important but I dread the day when RBLs start >requiring MATCHING rDNS. That would be a b-i-g problem for mailservers >legitimately hosting email for multiple independent domains. It is >generally not possible to force an email server to send out emails from >one virtual multi-homed IP or another, as that part is generally >controlled by the TCP/IP stack in the operating system. (Virtual multi- >homed IPs not to be confused with dynamic IPs). Actually virtually hosted domains should not matter. The server should ALWAYS send emails with it's own credentials no matter which virtual domain it is sending for. An example the server might be "exchange.domain1.com" and it might host "domain2.com". When sending email the smtp prompt should always return "exchange.domain1.com" even if it is sending email for "dude@xxxxxxxxxxx". This way rDNS is always correct for the smtp connection from that server. ------------------------------------------------------- List Archives: //www.freelists.org/archives/exchangelist/ MSExchange Newsletter: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp MSExchange Articles and Tutorials: http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/ MSExchange Blogs: http://blogs.msexchange.org/ ------------------------------------------------------- Visit TechGenix.com for more information about our other sites: http://www.techgenix.com ------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe visit http://www.msexchange.org/pages/exchangelist.asp Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
