Replicating Exchange 2000 mailboxes to 5.5

I've migrated our users from SBS to Exchange 2000 and setup a 2way ADC
between the servers, I still use the SBS for our proxy and external mail.
However If I create a user on 2000 their mailbox doesn't get replicate to
the SBS and any mail coming in through the SBS doesn't get passed on.
