No, it was instantaneous. I'd try checking all AD-related delays to
troubleshoot RUS issues if I were you! Check event logs, replication beteween
DC's and the like.

Thanks Tiago, the problem appears to be in timing. It took the good part
of a day to populate the email addresses and exchange attributes? Anyone
know why it would take so long?
