Kerberos errors?
Common approach to troubleshooting would be to solve that issue first and
then go to the secondary issue of Outlook prompts. In case of Kerberos
failure, I'd expect strange authentication issues like this.

I am afraid not. I have read and tested all that RPC connectivity staff and
zeeee. It is true it there are volumes on this error and I was surprised
after mining through with no luck. Thing is am not sure whether GroupShield
6 which I use may have a hand in this. Am also getting Failure audits
(related to Kerberos) in my security log 681, 529, 576, 539...
Point is ave searched as widely as possible, and so far can't find a
solution that works. Anyone who may used this solution recently, kindly
point me to that "gem"

Well that one's easy! It is fully documented in Microsoft's KnowledgeBase.
All you have to do is copy & paste your error into the KB search and I feel
confident that you will both get you answers!

Hi all,
Please advice on this error while connecting to exchange using outlook in
the corporate mode. We have exchange 2000 and outlook 2000. All but 2 staff
use Outlook in Corporate Mode.
When users attempted access this morning, A dialog asking for password
appears repeated. The following error is reported
Your logon information was incorrect. Check your username and domain, then
type your password again. If your account is new or if administrator
requested a password change you need to click Change Password then logon
with your new password
A somewhat related issue occurs with ISA which repeated ask for
authentication. When the ISA server is set to use Basic Authentication to
authenticate Outgoing web requests, it works yet it fails with integrated
Authentication.
Please note access via POP3 and OWA (using basic access) works just fine. My
Exchange is on its own box, ISA on its own box and a separate box running
Active Directory Services
