I had this problem pop up on me a while ago.. I tried all the below and
finally I deleted the users account and recreated it. ExMerged their
email to a PST and re-imported it did the trick. I isolated it to the PC
b/c I could log in as the user on my PC just fine.. It was something
with that users computer/user account setup. I removed Email Profile,
Computer Account profile off the PC, reload the TCP/IP stack and we have
no fw/ids between us the and email server since its inhouse. 
We even had 5 MS Outlook trainers onsite for a demo and none of them
could figure it out. 

Weird.

Before removing and adding the stack, try checking the profile bindings.
Since you had the workstation working with your creds, I'd also look at
the event logs such as the security log (if auditing is turned on.  If
not, try turning it on) to verify that the user is even trying to attach
to the server. If the user is, but failing, that should show in the
failure audit and a clue as to why should also show up. 

Has anything happened with this users workstation or account?  On the
workstation, does the user have any third party apps added such as PIM
software?  I'm assuming from earlier posts, you've already created a new
profile for the user with just Exchange service installed to remove any
doubt that it could be a software add-in etc, but need to check.  

Checking the users transport binding is an easier approach before going
after the IP stack.  

Checking the logs is also easier than going to the users workstation I
assume (could be wrong there).

ok I'll try and uninstall ip but as thsi problem is highlighting on
another PC and different OS (XP rather than 2000) I don't think it'll be
the rrot problem.

Hi Simon

a while ago I had a pc doing the same thing when everything was working
but the email.
I went to microsoft site and they suggested that I should add netbui and
remove the TCP/IP and restart your pc . Reinstall TCP/IP and uninstall
netbui and it worked. Try this maybe it will solve your problem.

The other option is to remove your workstation from the network and add.
see if it works. 

Also check on the exchange services properties under the Advanced tab -
logon network security option if "NT password authontication" is
selected .

Al - this scenario happens on a w/s where another profile does work ok
i.e mine !! DNS is fine. Firwall not involved on the local network.
Where should I be looking for logged events specifically (other than the
obvious events
logs) on the server. Again to confirm, this'll happen on another w/s
where a nother profile works ok,. so I don't think its workstation
related but more the server/exchange/logon validation - which is what
the error is indicating !!!

What gets logged at the server and the dc during that sequence?  
What type of name resolution is going on?
Any firewalls etc on the server/workstation or in between?

When you create a user profile on the work station,go ahead and
right-click the outlook icon on your desktop which displays a panel
containing,among other things,show profiles.
Now click on the profile created and click properties.
That presents you with yet another tab that has properties,click on the
properties tab there then advanced and at the bottom,you shall find
"logon network security", choose none.Should go a long way in helping
you.
I think the reason you cant logon to that particular account is because
you have not logged onto that desktop as the user of that particular
mail account and so the instructions above should help u.

I hope someone can help here as I'm going nuts....I create a new user in
AD 2000 with an Exchange mailbox. Logon to a PC as the new user. Create
the profile in Outlook. Verify name etc. When I come to fire up Outlook
for real, I get "The logon credentials supplied were incorrect. Make
sure your username and domain are correct" . I then confirm the box
displayed with username, domain and password and I get rejected again.
This happens on two different workstations. Having trawled about I can
find no helpful advise.

Any idea's ?
