-------------------------------------------------------If she was admin at one
time then she probably had rights to perform the
deny action. Try the following:

1. Open Exchange System Manger. All the way at the top Domain
(Exchange)right click properties, security tab. (If you don't see the
security tab follow the link below.
http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/exchange2003/exchange2003_registry.
htm

2. Once in the security tab, scroll through the list and see where the
deny is. If it's greyed out you will have to go into ADSIEDIT.

3. Go to start run, adsiedit.msc (part of windows server support tools)

4. Expand Configuration, cn=services, cn=Microsoft exchange, cn=domain,
right click properties, security tab. See if you see a deny, if not
scroll down further in the configuration context, ie. , cn=services,
cn=Microsoft exchange, cn=domain, cn=administrative groups, right click
properties, security tab etc.

-------------------------------------------------------I would like to
know how she turned those permissions off though-

and when I go to the root level in system manager - are you talking
about the
mailbox root level or where? It does tell me when I go to Active
Directory
that the permissions are inherited from the parent and the deny
permissions
are grayed out there too - but shouldn't the administrator have access
to
change that? I have removed her from the Administrator group so she
can't
change any other permissions - but I did not know that a user could even
do
that. . .

-------------------------------------------------------It's probably
inherited, go to Exchange System Manager start at the root go to
properties
security tab see if you see a deny. If it's greyed out here, then you
will
need to go into adsiedit to remove the deny.

-------------------------------------------------------Yes
When I right click on the sharing permissions - they are grayed out. . .
And
when I go to AD - I can't get rid of deny permissions that have been set
up
on her inbox. . .

http://www.msexchange.org
-------------------------------------------------------Do you mean when
you
right click your inbox sharing permissions, it's greyed out? If you're
doing
brick level backups, it's notorious for showing access denied issues.
The
newest version of backup exec can do information store backups while
restoring individual mailboxes.

-------------------------------------------------------How does a user
turn
off sharing on her inbox?
It is grayed out and when I go to the server - it won't let me remove
the
deny settings on the server - I have removed her from the Admin group -
but
how did she get it turned off and how do I get it turned back on - the
backup
server is showing access denied errors.
