Offline address book problems

Running Exchange 5.5 SP4 on Win2K server. When our laptop users try to
download the offline address book, they get a "Microsoft Exchange Server
reported error 0x80004005; The operation failed.
I tried doing a search on the error, nothing that applied to the offline
address book. Can someone provide some insight how to track down this
problem?
