In Outlook Offline folder settings there is an option to download only
changes to Address book since last send/receive operation. This will
download only changes to GAL and not the entire address book. I think by
default this option is selected. With this option Outlook will not try
to download the entire address book. Hence the bandwidth is not an
By default OAB updates itself every day once. There is no way you can
increase this to like once in 2 days etc. If you want you can turn off
the OAB updating, and manually rebuild the OAB every 3 - 4 days. For
this, you can set the OAB update interval to Never.

Subject: [exchangelist] Offline address book

Is there a setting in Exchange which would allow the Address book
Incremental - to last longer before requiring outlook to download the
full address book again?

If possible having offline incrementals lasting 3-4 days would be idea
as this allows users enough time to travel from one office ot the other.
It would also result in reduced bandwidth requirements for remote users
working offline and synchronising.

This affects basically around 80% of the SEIC user base who are
contantly travelling. (so around 1200 people).

Any suggestions on how to improve downloading of offline address books
would be much appreciated.
