You'll notice in OWA that you also can't look at the other address lists,
such as contacts, groups, etc. That's because OWA is a limited client vs. a
full-featured client such as Outlook. I do not expect OWA to be able to use
the sub folders with an out of the box implementation. You may be able to
get this functionality with a third party add-in much like you used to get
spell check with a third party solution.

www.slipstick.com is a great place to check for such things.

FWIW, you can still see the sub folders in OWA, but you can't have them as
your address book to check prior to sending an email. Whether to use the
GAL or the Contacts is specified in your options sheet.

I can find contacts within the folders within Contacts - if I am using
Outlook 2000 or XP.

If I use OWA, create a new email, click on the TO button:
I can "find names in" only "Global Address List" and "Contacts" --
no option is showing up here to choose folders within Contacts. And, if I
search for a known contact directly within Contacts, it will find it....if I
search for a known contact that is inside a folder inside of Contacts, it
will not.

And yet you get a different experience if you put a sub-folder of contacts
under \contacts and you're using LookOut as your client? Do you expect it
to check both folders? Mine doesn't, but I'm interested if your does. Mine
specifies which folder to use for the MAPI address book provider. If I
create a sub folder, I have to specify the sub folder specifically.

That's expected behavior to me but like I said, I'm curious what your
behavior is expected to be.

I've tested within the LAN and from the outside, with IE 6.X. Both are the
same results. Start a new email in OWA, choose TO, choose Contacts and the
only items it will find are users directly within Contacts and not from
folders created within the Contacts folder.

What is the architecture and version of your OWA setup? Are you verifying
this with internally connected vs. firewalled clients? What versions of IE?

That allows it to show while using Outlook 2000 or XP, but not within OWA.

Hi,

Right click "Contacts" ans select properties. Select "Outlook Address Book"
tab and there check the "show this folder as e-mail address book"
box.

Users: Outlook 2000 and XP
Server: Exchange 2003

Users can access contacts within the contact folder through OWA, but if they
created any folders within the contact folder, using Outlook 2000 and XP,
they cannot see these contacts when creating a new email. Am I missing
something here?
