Jared -
If the only people who are going to be using OWA are your
clients, I would think you could edit the templates and remove the
"send' / compose buttons. Do you want them to be able to reply to
messages? If not, then I would think you could go into the templates for
all messages, delete the "reply" fields and also delete the "compose"
buttons. This might work. I'm not that experienced in OWA, so does
anyone else know if this might work? I would think this should take you
no longer than a few hours to do.

OK, that's fair, but what I'm looking to do is maintain the ability for
a
user to send mail so that they can send read receipts automatically. I
do
not however want them to be able to send any other mail. My exchange
knowledge is unfortunately limited to the basics of administration and I
have never even used OWA. It does seem to me that it might be easy to
modify what the user sees in OWA with the right knowledge.

I am certainly open to other suggestions as to how to achieve what I am
looking for, this is just the first thing I thought of.

Also, I see that this white paper is for Exchange 2000. I'm still
looking
for it myself, but do you know of a similar document that applies to
Exchange 5.5?

Thanks much for your help thus far!

By reading the following Microsoft White Paper:

"Customizing Microsoft Outlook Web Access - November 2001"

You can download it from the MS Knowledge Article 326285:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3ben-us%3b326285

I'm also thinking that perhaps there are easier ways to make Exchange
not allow e-mail sending/replying than going deep into the HTML and/or
scripts OWA uses.

Hope this helps! :)

Alfonso

OK, let's assume I don't have much in the way of budget, but I have at
least
a month worth of time to get it working the way I want to starting from
now.
Where would you suggest I start to meet this need?

Thanks,

Jared Teche

You can customize OWA almost 100%... just how big is the budget/time you
want to invest to it... if small, it's not very doable... otherwise it
is indeed doable...

We have a new client with a requirement to have read receipts available.
Ordinarily, we do not allow our users to send mail.

What I'm wondering is can OWA give us the best of both worlds. Can our
users have permission to send mail, but with OWA (and we ensure that OWA
is
the only way to access mail) just not have the options to
send/reply/etc.

Any ideas?

NT4.0, Exchange 5.5
