I go to ADUC, the logon name is set to blank & I have to select the
domain from the drop down list) How can I set the globally for all
users in that domain or use another attribute that is specific to that

the logon name attribute for this? All Active Directory users have a
logon name attribute that in the form of:
Username@fullyQualifiedWindowsDomainName
So if your windows domain names are:
Yourdomain1.com
Yourdomain2.com
YourSubdomain.Yourdomain1.com
Then a user named Joe that is created in Yourdomain1.com will have a
logon name of joe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx This logon name is also called a UPN
(User Principle Name) don't confuse this with the user's email address
it's not the same thing.
To create an address list that only includes the users in
yourdomain1.com
Create your new address list and on the advanced tab select Logon Name
Ends with @yourdomain1.com
This will create the following LDAP filter.

Select a query based distribution group. Open its properties page. Click
on the general tab.
There is a blatantly obvious entry box right there that says Apply
filter to recipients in and below.
Click on the Change button that is right next to that entry box. Browse
down your AD tree and Pick the OU or Container that you wish to apply
the filter to.
Select the type of objects that you want in the Query Based Distribution
group. If desired further refine your filter using a Customized Filter.
Click apply/ok and your all done.
Check your work using the preview tab. You will note that only objects
in the specified OU will be included in the new query based distribution
group.
If you have an OU structure that requires you to traverse intermediate
OU's you have to set the Query base distribution group(s) up on the
lowest common OU/Containers and then create Normal distribution groups
that contain the appropriate Query Based groups as members.
Is this still unclear?
