My only concern with a Differential, is that the Transaction Logs are
not cleared when using a Differential.

Any concerns with that?

Wouldn't touch Incrementals any more anyway - too many tapes. Use
Differential is you can or Full.

http://www.MSExchange.org/

We have been using Netvault for over a year on all of our other servers,
and have been very impressed with it. However, as we all know, exchange
is a different beast all together. I am going to be using the Exchange
2003 APM now, and am debating on whether to use the Exchange Mailbox
backup piece (for Netvault).

I want to stay away from 'brick level' backups (because I have heard to
many horror stories). I am trying to determine if the Mailbox piece
acts as a brick level or if it is separate from the Exchange 2003 APM
full backups.

This will also affect my estimates on the amount of Tapes that we need,
and the type of backup (Full or Incremental) that I want to use.

For those of you out there - what are your feelings on Incremental vs.
Full backups for Exchange?

I have always relied on Full backups for my Exchange 5.5 environment,
but now with the Exchange 2003 environment, I have increased my user's
mailbox limits and the backups will take up considerably more space on
disk and Tape.

Thanks for any input.

We currently use Backup Exec 9.0, nut will migrate to Netvault within
the next month.

The backup and restore of normal windows servers is impressive, and the
disaster recovery option is really really very good.

We are currently testing the backup and (more important) the restore of
a windows 2003 / exchange 2003 server... No results yet...

Will post them when available.

Is there any one out there using NetVault Bakbone for Exchange as a
backup solution?

If so, can you give me your opinion of it?

Thanks,
Chris
