Need Help And Advice

Hi .
I`m in a situation where i got new 6 sites running Exchange 2K and the root
romain running Exchange 5.5 enterprise Cluster server.All sites connected
together using COINS. Only the root domain has the access to the internet for
sending and receiving mails.
How to configure this Exchange 2K to send messages and receive through the root
domain using smtp and X.400 connector.
Need advices and which part is the crucial part to configure..
