Re: Moving mailboxes from 2003 Enterprise to 2003 Standard - possible?

The only obvious difference I can see in the Exch tasks dialog box is
the ability to remove Exch Attributes in the ADUC. :)

In re: (1) -- the wizard API isn't documented, I fear, but I don't see
the difference you are describing on either my test or my live systems.
I don't question that it exists on yours. Sounds like a bug in ADU&C.

I don't believe ADU&C and ESM use the exact same code for two reasons:

1) When you move mailboxes from ADU&C and ESM, the move mailbox wizzard
gives a slightly diffferent interface for each tool. With ADU&C, the
number of mailboxes you see on the pull down list is only about half the
available mail databases when run with a full complement of Storage
Groups and databases. I.e. 19 mail databases.
With ESM, you see all the available databases.

2) When I call Microsoft about a problem I had with moving mailboxes,
they asked which method I used. When I questioned them about being the
same the tech replied yes they are basically the same.

These two incidents lead me to believe there are some differeneces in
the move mailbox function between the two tools.

I agree with your other points.
