Moving mailboxes

I thought if you moved someone's mailbox to a new Exchange 2000 server
the servers were supposed to coordinate and redirect the Outlook client
to the new server the next time the user tries to log in.
I'm getting errors when the user tries to log in after his mailbox has
been moved. Are there any special considerations I should be aware of or
configuring to make this move seamless to the end-users?
