I have not moved E2K across hardware, but have migrated from E55 to E2K, if you
are using Outlook, then when a mailbox is moved to the new server, the old
sever will redirect Outlook to the new one, thus updating the Outlook profile.
So therefore the old server will ned to be on line for a little while with no
mailboxes on it.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [exchangelist] Moving Exchange

Hi All,

I am new to the list and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience
moving Exchange 2000 to new hardware. We currently have an email Win2k server
running Exchange 2000 named Exchange (w/ appr. 5000 users). When we move it we
do not want to change the name of the server since all of our users will also
have to change the settings on their client ends. We are going to try to move
the Active directory from one computer to another.

Microsoft Technet does not have any articles out on this right now. They only
have one about moving the Windows 2000 Active Directory. Any help will be
