If you system is running OK at the moment, I would recommend turning on circular logging and let it flush the logs, then make a good backup and then disable circular logging, you might want to consider purchasing an extra HD just for the log files. I understand that I need to backup to remove the logs. But my problem is the backup is failing because there is no diskspace. Most of the space is being taken up by uncommitted logs from yesterday and today. So my question is, what is the worst case scenario if I just delete these logs to free up some space? -----Original Message----- From: Tim Lamberth [mailto:tlamberth@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, August 21, 2003 11:18 AM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: Logs http://www.MSExchange.org/ You need to do an exchange aware backup to remove the logs from mdbdata dir - use the eseutil /mk (something like that) to find the committed log files which can be deleted. Win2k backup is Exchange aware. All of the viruses being quarantined are part of the problem. We also have a ton of exchange logs that are sitting around. The problem is we don't have time to run a backup before the disk fills up and the backup fails. Is it ok to just delete the logs? I know this may affect backing up today, but we really, really need to free up some space. Any help would be great.
