Internet email address

Hello. I have Exch 5.5 sp2 server that used to be Internet emailserver.
Company cut-down service and decided to use Dial-up for clients. Outlook
2000 was configured with Internet Mail which downloads messages from new
outsourced email server. Users still connet to Exch server for internal
email. Internet Mail Service was deleted from the Connections applet in
the Exch Administrator.
Problem: there are some Internet email receipients configured and when
user tries to send email to these, they will not be processed via the
Dialup connection but the Exch server and an undeliverable mail is
immediately generated. In other words, the email will be considered
internal rather than external.
Is there a way to tell Exchange to let it process those with the Internet
Mail service?
