In-place upgrade from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003

Hello,
I want to upgrade an Exchange 2000 server to Exchange 2003. The upgrade
will be performed on the same machine. Right now I have GroupShield 5.2
and GFI MailEssentials 9 running to protect Exchange. My question is how
to deal with those two applications during the upgrade? Should I uninstall
and reinstall after or just stop and disable the services? For
MailEssentials, GFI recommends to backup the config files, uninstall and
reinstall in the same folder after upgrade, but I'm not sure what to do
with the antivirus. Any suggestion or advice will be appreciated,
