http://www.msexchange.org -------------------------------------------------------While your first point is some what valid, the main reason for many users to have PST files is for archiving purposes and legal retention of mail data. This helps the server mailbox from filling up. OST files are a replica of your real time server mailbox. So, while OST files are useful for working offline on your server mailbox, and better performance while connecting over a slow link, PST file are still needed for archiving. The best practice would be to create PST files that are not overly large, keep a good backup of your PST files, such as burning them onto DVD etc. HTH.
