If the email has been read by the recipients, you cannot recall the
email, so that option is out of contention.
If you download the latest version of Exmerge, read the docs, and run
through a few tests on disposable/temporary mailboxes, then your
feelings of avoidance towards Exmerge, shall subside; it's a great
tool.
As for other Microsoft supported solutions, your next best bet is to
write a script (check the MSDN site or Exchange blogs for possible
templates) to perform what Exmerge would otherwise be doing.
