This doesn't help you FIX the problem (or find out why it happened), but I think you can just delete the .ost file and the problem will just go away, until it happens again :-) Like sweeping the dust under the rug.... I have tried to delete, move, copy them with no luck, I get an error saying that either they have been moved or I ( the user) doesn't have permissions to access them.
