John, You need to write a simple vbscript to do this. OR, if you are not comfortable with VB you can do a little less than what you need. You can create a archive.pst and rename it to archivetodaysdate.pst. Because batch file does not allow date manipulation. A simple command to do this would be 'ren archive.pst archive%date%.pst' in your batch file. But for this to work you need change the default date format in the computer in which the batch file is running so that the date separator is other than "/". You can use "-" as the date separator, and also change the simple date format to something like yyyy-mm-dd. So you renamed file will look like archive2003-09-19.pst for example. I am not a script expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I am sure someone here will be able to script it for you. Sorry I could not be more help, and I am still trying to get a gig in Southern CA :-) Mark Fugatt MCT, MCSE, Microsoft Exchange MVP Pentech Office Solutions Inc Tel: 585 586 3890 Cell: 585 576 4750 Fax: 585 249 0316 www.4mcts.com www.exchangetrainer.com -----Original Message----- From: John Tolmachoff (Lists) [mailto:johnlist@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, September 17, 2003 10:46 PM To: [ExchangeList] http://www.MSExchange.org/ You know, if Mark is stumped on this one, is there hope? Example. I want to be able to create a batch file that will run exmerge at 12:05 AM daily to extract the previous days messages from the archive mail box. The batch file would then rename the resulting archive.pst to archive_MMDDYY.pst. I know I can specify the date range in the appropriate ini file, but how do you configure it for a variable like yesterday's date?
