What happens if you open that mailbox in OWA?
Your lookup is failing for some reason. Have you double-checked the alias
name? Have you tried using a fully-qualified DNS name for the server name?
Where is your GC in relation to the Exchange server? Can it resolve the GC
name? If you do a 'set' command on the Exchange box, did you log on
locally, or to that GC, or what? How about on the client system?
Just spitballing a few ideas.

Mike, I can ping the server, I have the user account in active directory and
that mailbox is created in those names.
Is there no other fault there could be?
I am connecting internally (wonder what you meant though) as in, I have the
server at some desk and the work station at another desk in the same room.

Could be many.
You don't exist on that Server.
You can't connect to the Server.
You have the wrong name for that mailbox.
More info is needed Paul.
Are you connecting internally/externally to the Server?

Hi all, I am trying to make a connection to an exchange 2000 server but it
gives the error " The name could not be resolved. The name could not be
